Default Prehaps first dyno numbers

We got one on the dyno today (one of the ones in my pictures I posted yesterday) Preliminary numbers are 548rwhp and 53x rwtq. The AFR is off the chart rich (much richer than 10). This was done on a Dynojet 248 dyno. I'll let you guys know what it does tuned up.

To be honest, that is a little lower than I was thinking. Are you just tuning the fuel/ timing curves or are you going to mess with the boost limit too?

That comes to about 14.1% loss from engine to rear wheels. For a comparison, my 2006 Z06 dynoed at 457 rear wheel hp which comes to approximately 9.5% loss.

"9.5% loss" = happy dyno. Maybe they gave you actual HP and not "SAE Corrected HP". There can be a big difference between the two based on the actual air temps during the dyno test.

14.1% loss on the ZR1 ... that's very close to the "rule of thumb" 15% loss. Just what I expected and predicted in some old debate threads on fwhp vs. rwhp losses.

It just depends on the car. I have dynoed well over 20 C6 Zo6's and have seen some as low as 420-430rwhp. The thing about it though is all of them tune out to about the same number. You have some outliers and weather does play a role even with the dyno correction.

Those were SAE corrected numbers on a Dynojet 248. 457 rwhp was not that uncommon for a C6 Z06. It was a good air night though as the uncorrected was over 500rwhp.

Though, if you think about it the ZR1 with its beefed up drivetrain should have a little more loss than the Z06.

This is represents drivetrain loss of 14% so these are pretty good numbers.

That is very impressive, remember it is a lot easier to find horsepower on a stock forced induction platform.

I understand that, but the Z06s were doing better than that so I was expecting a little more. Then in a post above pointed out why the ZR1 might have a little more drivetrain loss than a Z06.

420-430 rwhp on a bone stock C6Z puts the drivetrain loss at 16.8%-14.9%. Seems about right IMO.

If they are all pig rich from the factory, then I could see picking up 10-20 more HP at the peak.

Big power, as expected.

The first bone stock 2008 Viper (12 miles on car) also dynoed at high 540's rwhp. Torque was a tad less at 520 rwtq. Headers + full exhaust made 600 rwhp. Crazy power these cars have...

Here are the 'SAE corrected' and 'uncorrected' dyno results for my bone stock 2006 Z06 run about one and a half months after I picked-up the car.

SAE Corrected

Uncorrected

I think tuning the car for more HP and adding the traditional mods could pose a problem for the car. From what I have read the temps could be a problem as HP increases. If you can tune it for 50 more HP that heat has to be dissipated. I wonder exactly how much heat the hood and panels can take as well.
