Default 77's and factory side pipes?

Was taking a close look under just a minute ago...and there are brackets for side pipes welded under each door. Was factory side pipes an option in 77, or is this the left over from someone else's instalation?

Thanks for the help.

Not an option, must be a leftover.

The factory side pipes don't have welded brackets. They must be after market.

Definitely a leftover. The factory units hook unto the frame. Look just in front of the rear wheels on the frame and you will see what looks like a an old-fashioned hotel key hole: round with an accompanying slot.

As far as I know 69 was the only year that offered factory sidepipes.

The pipes have a steel bracket welded to the back of them. A carriage bolt is placed in the slot of the frame rail just ahead of the rear wheels and rubber bushings are placed on both sides of the steel bracket. The front of course he held up by the manifold bolts.
