now livin in hawaii ive decided i need a/c.. my 1980L-82 came with a/c but previous owner pulled it out with the controler ect. so i cant even get the fan air..now the rest of my car is pretty nice just needs weather strips replaced and a few nick nacks but will never be a show car..would u sell this vette for around the $5000-6000 i can get for it and buy another one with a/c ...or would u spend the $2000+ its gonna cost to put one back in ??

razz, you may end up like me. Bought a 1980 305ci california vette nice but no show car.Found the perfect 78pace and bought that in mint condition. But now cant bear to sell the 80.You only miss them when they're gone. :cheers:

A 1980 L-82 like yours is a nice Vette to have. It should be possible to do it for a few hundred if you do it, should not be as bad as you think.

Might be kinda hard over there on the big island, but I'd try to find a donor car to get all the pieces-parts. Salvage yards, etc., not the same as here, but worth a try. If you can find a salvage yard ask them to use a locator to find the parts for you. Should be way less than $2K once you have the parts in hand. If you have the AIM you can even show them pics of the stuff.

If is your first vette, I would definitely keep it. If you want a show car, you will be less inclined to drive it, race it etc.. By the way, how is the Maaco paint holding up?

Honeymoon over already? You've brought that Vette aloooooooong way from what it was. Don't let the small things become big issues with your ownership enjoyment. You got her in safe & reliable running condition. My hat's off to you! Now is the beginning of the next dimension of C3 ownership, PERFORMANCE!!!!! Save up for a set of AFR aluminum heads or do the free flowing exhaust thing and start that honeymoon all over again. "AC"? The increased performance has a way of casting a different light on the need for AC. :D

thanx all..i do love my vette and ur all right ,if i sold it i would be SICK over it after all the work i put into it...it just hard to to get parts over here and im so damm impatient :cry
