guys, i need to find the radio wires for my car. its a 79, dunno where they are, but there is a few wires close to the gauge cluster that is taped up, could this be them? currently, my dad ran a buncha stuff to make it work when he put in a tape player about 6 years ago, but im putting in a new deck this week and i would like it to be right.

See if this helps. Your radio wires should be under the rear of the console upper piece. They are probably these colors:
grey
yellow(both go to fuse block)
Black-ground
tan -L speaker
gray L speaker
blue right speaker
lt. blue right speaker
Try this for car with front speakers only. You didn't say if there are rear speakers. Hope this helps.

Here is the wiring diagram for a 1979 with four speakers. It is high-res so I have left it in the Forum file Manager. If this type of diagram is of use to you, but you have only two speakers, I can post that schematic also. On the wiring itself, I would visit a local auto stereo shop and purchase the wiring harness with appropriate molded connector for your new stereo unit. This can be spliced in neatly to your loose wires using the colour codes shown in the diagram. Most shops have walls of these wiring adaptors.

my car has been severely bubbad in this department, so the harness wouldnt work, but that might help me out enough to find the wires

Some wires HAVE to be there. It is just a matter of getting them into a new harness.
