Default To Paint or Not To Paint

hoping someone can give a bit of advice. I am having a debate with my wife about repaint my car, it is an 81 Motion C3 that is starting to show its age. she says re painting will decrease the cars value because it will not be original anymore I say it will not any tips.

Just curious...it's not "original" in the first place.

I can't see how painting could decrease the value, though.

A vette with original paint that is also in good condition is worth more than a vette that has been repainted.But then again a poor paint condition will make it worth less as it hasn't been restored.
