I know 77s did not come with a power drivers seat option. I was wondering if the later mechanisms will use the same floor holes and the same bolt pattern on the 77 seats. My wife always has to build herself up with cushions when she drives the Vette so I was wondering if this might be a solution for doing away with the cushions. Where was the power seat switch mounted?

The driver's side floor pan is deeper for the electric seat.

Maybe not.... it sounds like the seat would be instantly raised up which would solve your wifes problem (it wouldn't help you though!). It may be worth checking out the relative heights of the '77 & 81/82 seats to see what difference there would be. You never know - it might be OK for you.
The switches are mounted on the front outer edge of the seat base in a plastic housing (which always seems to have been kicked into small pieces - if anybody has a spare one they'd like to sell......).
Or you could just buy an 81/82 to keep the '77 company! :jester
