Default [pics] seat rebuild is going great!!! very easy!!

well i picked up the frame yesterday.... if you need a refresher of my old frames condition....

and got em sand blasted and all joints rewelded and i used that 20 $ lower bar fix that ecklers sells and got that welded on also since im paranoid

the frames came out great!! no more flexing......

the seat cover install is so easy!! and to think i was dreading doing this install...... cant wait to put my **** on these, only done 1 bottom so far.... these are the leatherlike from wilcox (really corvette america) for $130 smackers, also new seat foams and hardware.... the stupid @$###@ bolts cost just as much as the seat covers!!!

Looking good buddy, great Job.

DD....Glad to hear that your seat rebuild is going so well for you. Over here we aren't able to buy seat covers off the shelf so we just get them re-upholstered by those in the trade. Had mine done a couple of years ago which unfortunately was a year or two before my son took on an apprenticeship as a motor trimmer. He's been there a year now and the shop he works for does only top level vehicles and most of them get done in Connolly leather....top of the shelf cows.
He's already done my sun visors in black leather as a beginning, but we have a full leather interior planned for the very near future.
Again .......good luck with yours.

the covers im using is "leather like" from wilcox.... but wilcox gets em from corvette america (at a cheaper price too...) and corvette america gets em from auto accessories of america....

heres the web link to wilcox.. http://www.yankeelady.com/willcox/

wilcox sells them for ~130 for leather like (vinyl with leather pattern stitch...) and foams for like ~100 bux... its the cheapest you can get!!

i would have loved to get real leather covers but i cant afford them. :cry :cry

i am using the cheap hog ring pliers (open type).... at first the hog rings were a PITA until u get the hang of it.. (u just have to push down rather hard on the springs and get the hog ring in the grooves right....) but it goes really quickly...

but one thing i recommend for anyone doing there seats is to refinish the seat frames... the factory welds SUCK!! i could flex my whole frame very easily. did full length welds all around it and now its rock solid.
