Default Speedo / odometer calibration... ???

Was cruising the FL T-Pike this past weekend and noticed that after 100 mile-marker posts, my odometer increased by 116! (Trip-meter does not work, so don't know if EXACTLY 16% off) My MPH are probably off by the same amount too..???

I had replaced the tranny (TH400) and am now thinking it has a different speedo "drive" gear than the original had. Can I just replace the cable "driven" gear, or do I need to replace both so they "mesh" correctly? If the gear in the tranny needs to be replaced, how involved is that? Has anyone done this?

Thanks for any info.
:seeya
