Re: Engine assembley date
Where can I find the engine assembley date on a 71 small block? thanks
The four numbers indicate the day and month of assembly.

Re: Engine assembley date (mulchie)
On the stamp pad, a machined surface on the block in front of the passanger side head. Would be in a format like V1014XX. V=flint engine plant, 1014=build date (month/year) or Oct 14 in this example, XX=engine usage suffix.

In addition to the other responses, it WILL NOT be there if your engine is a service replacement engine or the block has been decked. You won't see "those typical" numbers if the aforementioned has happened in your case. :nonod:
