GPS units need help
For you guys that have a Magellan or TomTom or maybe even a Garmin which one do you think is the most usable? I need voice guidance a large screen and traffic. What is the bluetooth used for and is traffic free/how reliable is it? There is a sale on one called Magellan 4210 with 4.3" wide touchscreen with 6 million poi's for 194.27. I am not sure what the regular price is.
What options should I be looking for to make this a keeper. I tend to like things a little on the loaded side.

I have the Nuvi 660 with the large screen, voice turn by turn, the Bluetooth is for working with your cell phone and it works good, I would get a Nuvi you get what you pay for and Garmin leads the pack

I have a Garmin, a Magellan and the Delorme GPS software for a laptop.
My experience is, if you started with the DeLorme it will spoil you. The others are nice and work very well, but don't provide the information or interface the Delorme offers. The downside is, of course, the size of the laptop.
My recommendation is to decide what you absolutely must have and decide from that. Many manufacturers offer a lot of "bells and whistles" that you may not need and will pay for......mp3 player for example.

I got a Garmin 750 about a month ago. LOVE IT. Esy to use and a nice clear screen. It paid for itself when we were at Vettes on the Rockies and a buddy managed to lock both fobs in his C6. I had to drive into Denver to a dealer. I think we'd still be lost if I didn't have the Garmin.

You can't go wrong with a Garmin...Even the cheaper units (I paid $160 for this 200w) use the same mapping software as the more expensive units. Just pick the bells and whistles you want..

For me, there's a relative value proposition . . . and it's not at $599 - 899 . . . .it's at $200 and below.
I've got a Magellan Mastro I bought for $199 and am well pleased with it's performance and value. I could care less about traffic updates and MP3 interface - - just get me from the airport, to my hotel...to my business appointment and back to the airport.

Made the mount. I don't use the CD, so this worked well. Pops in and out.. More pics here: http://public.fotki.com/ttschwing/co...unt-custom-ga/ Feel free to duplicate the design..
