Letter from GM - fuel tank filler cap
Although the subject's been on the radar for a long time and even generated a tech bulletin that appeared in these pages:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...uel+cap+filler
I received a formal letter yesterday from GM announcing an extended warranty - - ten years from the in-service date or 120,000 miles-- on the fuel filler cap. Same stuff as before - - the dealerships seem to be addressing it, but this is the first letter I've received from the General.
If anyone wants to see the actual text, I can probably post it as a photo . . .I've seen references to the topic, but no individual letter regarding the ten year extension on coverage . . so, FYI.

Sorry Keyplyer . . .I was traveling yesterday and knew I hadn't read about the letter earlier in the week - - I did a quick search but used key words of fuel filler and gas cap instead of Chevy letter .(or, I may have just gone brain dead . .) . .sorry for the duplication . . .

I got the letter also, and I have never had a problem with the cap. On mine, at least, you just barely place the cap on and turn with no pressure and the ratcheting sound will begin. Nice to know I'm covered, though, if a problem does occur.

I got the letter today also. I've already been to the dealer about this issue but they wanted to have me set up an appointment to leave the car with them for a few hours to "check" everything out. I told them to just order me a cap but they wouldn't do that without first looking at the car. I refused as I don't like leaving the car with them but now with this letter I'll go back and hopefully they will just order me a new cap. If not, then I'll just buy one as they only cost about $20.

I received the letter today. But my cap already went bad about 6 months ago and I had the dealer replace it under warranty. The cap would just spin and not click, and "Check Fuel Cap" came up on the display. I waited while the dealer took care of it in about a 1/2 hr. This was the only problem I've had with my '05, so no biggie.
