Another EBAY travesty!!!!
Check this out.
This guy bought this car on Ebay in October for $12,901.
He has done a few things to it (but not much) and is now starting the bid at $25,000 with a $27,500 "Buy It Now".
$27,500 for a non matching numbers Vette is a joke, but for this car is a crime.

A car is worth whatever someone will pay for it. $25,000 is expensive for that 'Vette....but not out of this world expensive. I'd rather see 'Vettes like that posted on eBay than the station wagon Corvettes. :)

That's right.
At least he could have used the picture for the banner pic of the side of the car that has the header pipe attached instead of just hanging there.

Re: Another EBAY travesty!!!! (hudman)
Why would you think this to be a crime?
It is not illegal to ask any amount you want for anything you own. It is also not illegal to make a profit. All those car lots you drive by everyday do the same thing.
No one is being forced to bid on this car.

From reading the text, it sounds like he did a significant amount of work on the car before offering it for sale. stainless steel lines, new brakes, the outsiders look new. If he's done enough work to justify the price tag, great luck for the new owner.
Perhaps he's one of the only people on this earth who can make a profit buying, fixing and reselling Vettes. As a wise man once said "To make a million dollars restoring Vettes, you must first start with ten million dollars."

Re: Another EBAY travesty!!!! (Mac)
I added up the work he did and it would have cost me 8 or nine grand to do all that. maybe he paid less, but when it's said and done, I still have a 74 4 speed coupe and thats a 69' big block, four speed, roadster, with most of the work dne. probably not a bad deal for someone who wants to drive the car before '03 rolls around.
Heck, open up corvette trader and it's full of worse deals then that.
he bought the car, did the work and maybe he won't loose too much money on that vette, maybe he'd take my 74 in trade.

Re: Another EBAY travesty!!!! (Evan Ginsberg)
The problem with that is that the original seller did a lot of the work (paint, interior, top, carbs, etc) Thus, this guy has nowhere near that much invested in this car.
And by the way, this is a free country and anyone can do anything that want to try and make a profit. My point in posting it in the first place was to show some of the crap that goes on with ebay. This flip occurred in less than 90 days.
I guess the market is showing us that they are smarter than I gave them credit for. No one has bid on the car. You can buy a nice numbers matching car for this price.

That reminds me, I am going to sell my X BOX box on ebay!
We don't need it any more. I think I will start the bidding at $100. :) MJ

That is high, however my Vette is valued at $27,000 CDN and worth every penny. In the case of my car you will not find another 76 in as good a shape as mine for less.
Just my .02

A nice profit....but if car is as good as it looks, I don't think price he's asking is that far out of line?? Agree that at price he paid, it was a total steal....
