Re: Thinking of buying (BigBlack79)
welcome to the group. A lot of teens here...I for one am 18...there are a few more 18 and a couple 19...and Mr Beau just turned 16.
I have a '77 and have had it since I was 15...it's been a lot of work, and still is, but I love it. If you get one in good condition, and plan to drive it daily, get something older then '75...IMO. If your going to get one to wrench on, and you have another car, then it doesn't matter, get what you want...I have a second car, I got one that needed work. Some drive theirs everyday, so take the maintenance into consideration.

What I was thinking of buying was a 74,77,or a 79.I might get a 79 because my dad had a nice black one with side pipes. It was a beauty. If I do get a vette,I plan on putting 405 hp in it with three parts from ecklers.

Thanks,I will try that. But if I can't find the same parts I'll just go to Ecklers for a good $4500 I could buy all the things.

For very little money, you will likely find only project cars. That being the case, don't be afraid of cars with few options. A/C, power steering, power locks, power windows, etc., all break after awhile. That, and these extra systems have a habit of always being in the way during repairs. Emission control systems help us all breath cleaner air, but they do get in the way.
My point - simplicity is good.
Good luck!

In all honesty, don't buy a vette unless you get an A in high school physics.....
it might make you appreciate more the things and forces involved with cars, mechanics, and driving.....
and then it helps if you do your own work, under the car on your back, in chilly weather, and I"m not even asking for you to endure the blowing snow I have endured just to get to work the next day......yeh I know, same poopie your dad says/said.....;-)))
then maybe you can appreciate more what it takes to keep a car running, and drive more sanely than most kids....take care, think twice, cut once....
