I drive by this dealership every day going to work. It has not been out there for over a week.

Wonder if he is getting some things fixed.

The car is in the dealership getting the following work done:

1. Oil that has 15,000 miles on it is getting dropped for fresh oil.
2. Detail guys are pouring KY on the paint, to make it shiny & wet looking.
3. Detail guys are using black paint to paint the wheel wells and underside of hood.
4. Detail guys are spraying tons of armor all and other goop in the interior and engine compartment.
5. Bald Rear tires are getting replaced with new rubber to hide years and years of smoke shows.
6. Car is getting cheap 5 spoke chrome rims from China (will peel in 6 mos) as the tenth owner sold the original rims for a few hits on the crack pipe.

Some poor guy will buy it, say what a mint ZR-1 he got for $14,000.

Some guy in Off Topic or C4 Gen will be saying Mint ZR-1s can be had all day long for $14,000 and C4's will never be collectible

Here's the formula for Z's like these: sales price + $10,000 = real cost.

Sure, that is true, but at the same time that is not to say they could be brought up to nice standards.

yes my car was ROUGH.. VERY ROUGH.. needs a bit of fiberglass work, could use a hood to make it perfect, but it runs and drives fine

car is solid and it was the only way I could afford to buy one..

I wish I could have bought one clean and finished, but to me part of the enjoyment is fixing it and saying, yeah this is what it looked like, now look at it.. I did it..

Isn't there $13 K worth of parts on this car, even given that the windshield appears to be in poor condition?

Although it would be a shame to see a ZR-1 parted out, that apparently has a good engine/tranny, and a straight frame.

As long as you know what you're getting, great. I like your attitude.

Good car and price for someone new to the hobby and doesnt want to put out alot of cash all at once...nice car to be restored over time, one might get it for 10+ if the owner is in a hurry to dump it. I would buy it for that to make a race car out of.

Agreed.. but I never saw it until it was delivered, although I had a friend ccmano look at it..

he described it perfectly.. I have been overwhelmed with it, but it runs and drives.. but it will get to where I want it someday

spend 16 and get a nice one. you'll be quite a bit happier

uly's car and many others are in very fine shape for a couple of grand more and are quite a bit better deals.

with even the low mile pristine rides dipping down below 20, they are the way to go IMHO instead of buying a project

buy the best car you can afford, and in today's market, the ZR-1 is a true bargain. never thought I'd see the day, but the ZR-1 is a cheap date now and you get tremendous bang for the buck.

this car would be a good one to buy and part out for those in need

if you want to drive it, spend just a bit more and enjoy rather than buy into misery.

I think people are finding out that Getting the ZR-1 feeling doesn't: have to cost big bucks at the present time.

P.S. I am not hard up for the money, I would just like to move the car at a heck of a price quickly as I don't need two cars. I am close to upping the price (I think the price will go up $1000 every 6 months) as I'm getting ticked that there is little interest in a reasonably priced ZR-1...just the garbage seems to attract attention.

Your car is awesome! I would buy it but I'll be admitted into a pysch ward if I buy a 4th Vette. If I could get rid of my 93 for $9,000, I'd definitely buy your car but having 4 Corvettes around is tough for parking.

As most here know, I have a nice '91 for sale for $18,500 with about $4000 in xtras plus excellent maintenance and a few minor repairs since I have owned it. From the description of the problems present with this car, I guarantee you cannot come close to the quality and performance of my car for $4,500 which is the difference between the two.

John,

it just SUCKS to sell a car right now.. I have been sitting on my very nice and clean modded 89 all year.. lots of tire kickers though.

Since you are in no hurry it will sell. might be next spring though.

I think for what you have it is a very nice price.. unfortunately people see the nice looking picture on the net of a POS, go see that POS then think everything low is a POS.

Ron,

I do agree, when I bought last year, if i could have afforded a 16-10K car in NICE shape I would have, but I could not. I have wanted a ZR-1 since 1990 when I saw it at the Chicago Auto Show with Clear hood.

I had pretty much resigned that the prices would NEVER be in my reach. When I bought my Z, like I said it was rough, but with exception of the Motor, I know a C4 inside and out. I also like to modify my cars to my personal taste. the one I bought was perfect for me.. it has come a along way in the year I have had it. I don't get to drive it much, but it will always be there.. I will be doing a bunch more this winter hopefully and slowly it will be where I want it.

I am a different type though, I don't mind working on it, although I am learning how to fix things I never touched on my 89 (adjusting windows) but I will get.. only takes time

For those looking buy the best ZR-1 you can (Hammer's) and you will not be disappointed..
