What would you guys do?
All right, now that the performance bug has dug in, I'm wanting to buy an old 350 block and build myself a 383 out of it. This seems to be a good choice for me since this is a daily driver, but I'd like to know from you guys that have already done this what other engine options might prove a better choice if I start taking it to the strip.

I suppose I would build it for my everyday driving style sense it's a daily driver. If you build it more geared for the strip you may not like it as much on the street.

Thanks for you advice. This is certainly my dilemma, but since it is primarily a street car I'm going to build the engine to suit that need. I guess there truly isn't a magic bullet.. :)

The 383 is a good choice for a daily/weekend driver. I did that with my 350/350hp stock motor. The 350/350hp came with 11.0 cr, not practical today. So I wanted lower cr without sacraficing performance. The 383 has more torque in the rpm range I am driving in, so it was a good replacement for the stocker. Best of all, it still looks stock.........good luck :chevy
