Misc(dumb) C3 questions
In the verts, how do you access the trunk? When did the side vents become covered with the chrome as in the 1970 model? Was a hardtop avalible for the vert? Does the BB bolt in the 75-82 models? Which is the least expensive c3 to buy?

Yes, a convertible hardtop was available for the convertibles (not sure which years this option was available). My dad had a removable hardtop for his '69 convertible. Yes, a big block will bolt right in the '75-'82 Corvettes (that's one of the cool things about most of the older cars).

What trunk??!!?? There is a small space behind the seats that becomes smaller when you take the top down.
On the 70 and early 71 Corvettes the side grills were painted with only the horizontal outside edges having chrome exposed. The late '71 and '72 models had both the horizontal and vertical edges with chrome showing. The '70 thru '72 side vents were "egg crate" design. You might be thinking about the '68 and '69 "gill" design. In '69 there was a chrome trim option available.
The least expensive C3 tend to be the late '70s models, but even those Corvettes that are original, low miles, and in good running condition are bringing prices between $10K and $15K. Some of the special editions (Silver Anniversary and Pace Car) are bringing higher values.

C-1s had trunks accesed like any other car.
C-5s have trunks accessed like any modern car
C-3s have trunks. They are accessed by folding the passengers seat forward and removing the cardboard liner from the far right compartment. At least this is where the jack is stored.

The hardtop was available as an option in additon to the convertible top, OR you could order a "hardtop only" car that had no soft top. The hardtop was available from 68 to 75, all of the years that the convertible was made. 1976-82 are all coupes. Hope this helps. Chuck
