SHIFT KITS ??????
I am having my automatic transmission rebuilt on my 1977, 350, L-48.
Should I get a new shift kit or let the mechanic rebuild the old one?
Are all shift kits about the same or is there a certain brand that is better than others, and who sells it?
Thanks for your help.
Larry

If you trust the person who is rebuilding your trans (which I hope you do), you may be best off just telling them that you want the effects of a shift kit. It's my understanding that they can access the shift kit parts and assemble them themselves piece by piece, but I'm sure they'd be happy to recommend and use a shift kit package if that's what you prefer.
As you can see in the threads above, I think most people are very pleased with the shift kit results (I know I am :yesnod: ).
Good Luck & Please post your results.
Hi Larry :seeya , I never notice it's you until after I've responded

Re: SHIFT KITS ?????? (vettecor)
Hi guys!! I to have a shift kit in my 76'. Though, I'm not entirly sure what a shift kit is suppose to do. The previous owner (Original owner) had the shift kit installed.I have no idea what brand was used, or what setting it was set to. I know its there, as when I go for some 'spirited' driving with Superfast et. el. I feel and hear the tranny shift, witch scared the hell out of me first time 'round (thought I broke it ) Anyhow, I figure it is time to do a little research on the subject, anyone have any links that may help? I'm going to try B&M, perhaps they will have some info on shift kits, and there advantages.
Thanks Again
