Default Distributor Heat Shield

HI,Was looking at the engine pictures from a couple of post's and saw that a lot of people don't have the distributor shield on. Mine is very tight on the wires and leaving marks on them does anyone have trouble with there's off.Was thinking of taking mine off. Thanks, Frank>STW<

Frank, no problem running without it. It was only installed on radio equipped Corvettes anyway and was designed to reduce possible electrical interference to the radio due to the cars fiberglass body; not a heat shield.

Also, don't modern sparkplug wires prevent radio interference anyway? I ask the question, but I get interference on AM even with new wires and the distributor shielding! oh well..... MJ
