Question about "the Wave"
And, since you guys are the best...(or just my style of car...), I thought I'd ask y'all.
So, what is the "skinny" on the wave when you're not in your Vette? This question has come up since I am driving my sister's car around while I'm home for leave. Do I wave, even though I'm in a Ford Escort?
Me :smash:

Wave if you know the driver approaching- don't if you don't. Otherwise, you just look like a wannabe in an Escort and no-one wants that!
When you're in your Vette, you'll find most C3s will wave and 50% of C4s will wave but the odds are against C5s returning your gesture of acknowledgement. Sad but true.

Re: Question about "the Wave" (rainman69)
most guys don't wave in their daily driver. personally I don't ,but I want to. When Im in the vette and someone honks and waves at me in a non-vette car, I think "either hes got one at home, or he likes the car"...either way is cool, but if its a C4 or C5 and you wave in a non vette car, I imagine their like "what? I didn't pull out in front of you."
Its your call....I wave at harleys when Im in the vette cus I like harleys...they think Im  ...

I wave at Harleys all the time from the Silver Beast, and they wave all the time at me. Not the ricers, it seems...just the Harleys. Interesting.....maybe its because a lot of them have gray (or is it silver?.....) hair like mine and gray beards........... I wonder if the Silver Beast used to be black and just turned silver (or is that gray?....) over time and experience like some of us..........

Re: Question about "the Wave" (daniel77350)
When I'm driving our Jeep CJ7, most 4X4s wave (short of SUVs which I don't consider to be 4X4s) TJs, YJs, ******, Land Cruisers, even those ugly little Suzuki things! I've had more people come over and ask questions about it than my Vette but the Jeep gets more mileage around town.
When I take the Vette into town, I always get some (excuse the generalization) pimple faced hormone monkeys in a Mustangs their mammas paid for who wants to race from stop light to stop light. I don't know why these kids persist. My ego doesn't need to crush their feeble hopes of keeping up to keep me happy. I know I can open a big can of whoop-butt on you at any time, Mustang boys, so go burn your tires off somewhere else!
If this statement hurt the feelings of any pimple faced hormone monkeys who might by spying on the Corvette Forum with computers their mommas paid for, TOUGH!
Ooops! Started ranting again. Sorry about that. Uhhh, I wave from like vehicle to like vehicle; Jeep to Jeep, Vette to Vette. Otherwise, it gets too confusing. Is it too late for a brag picture?

Re: Question about "the Wave" (rainman69)
Most people around here don't wave, period. I wave at every vette when I'm in my vette and 9/10 I get no response.
Then there's that 1 time out of 10, and it seems we're both waving at each other frantically while drooling over each other's car. It's a great feeling!
So based on how many people don't wave when I'm IN my vette, I don't even bother while I'm in any other vehicle. Besides, would they really believe me if I was in my girlfriend's Toyota Echo and told them I have a vette at home? :nonod:

Re: Question about "the Wave" (rainman69)
I've found that it really depends on where you live. When I was in Washington every vette owner waved back, even the C5's. The only time someone didn't wave back was when the guy laughed...I don't think he was the owner. I'm in California now and have only had like one in ten C5's wave back, and all C3's waved, but one wanted to race me or something and shook his head when I didn't go over the speed limit on a city road.
