How long do I have to wait before I can run it hard like for 1/4 mile at a time?
Thanks

YAHOOOOOO!!!! Time to call out the Hawaii folks to the Drag strip. The conditions don't get any better than now for drag racing. It is cold at night and we are at sea level.

 Good job
Drive her around for awhile with your ears wide open, look for leaks. Go through a couple of hot-cold cycles, and keep your ears open. Look for any other signs of potential problems.
I forgot to ask you, did you get anti-pump ups or conventional lifters?

Bottom line is you can just change lifters people do it all the time, but
The cam wears to the lifters not the other way around, so really you just wore alittle more off the old cam.

Hi
Yes, this sounds reasonable.
I experienced a similar thing in the past with my 68 bib block . The previous owner installed hydraulic lifters by mistake on to a original L71 solid lifter cam and drove about 6000 miles with it.
When I bought the car, I realized what happened and reinstalled the old original solid lifters.
Everybody told me that I must replace lifters with the cam as a set only.
The cam had no visible wear at all. The lifters also looked fine.
When I run the car, I realized that at every lifter stroke, they turn a little bit, possibly due to the slight offset to the cam. Wouldn't this eliminate any uneven wear ?
I'm not a engine guru, just learning by seeing and experience.
Happy new year. Gunther
