Picture of a special 1954
I am from the C4 forum. I went on a tour of a Corvette restoration facility today and I took these pictures that I thought you folks would enjoy them. Or maybe you all already know about this car.
Notice the prototype headlights.

I don't know who owns it but Master Works is in Madison Hts, MI. We had our Club meeting there tonight.

Outside of that 54, I know all 53's were polo white w/red interior. Were 54's also all white, or did they come out in various color options by then?
UHhh, Never mind....I just found the information. Polo White, Pennant Blue, Sportsman Red, and Black. With Red and Beige interiors.

This car was on display at the NCRS Novi Michigan Regional Meet in May-15 to 18th.
The restoration shop mentioned wouldn't happen to have been Werner Meier's Masterworks Automotives Services would it?

Yes, that's Werner's shop. When the car was found two years ago, it hadn't moved for almost thirty years. I took the photos below the day it was moved from storage to Master Works; the two plates are the original GM Styling Shop Order plates that identified the work Styling did on the car (it also had a 2"-thick GM binder with all the documentation and photos of the work while it was being done at Styling). Definitely a neat "find".

I would love to hear the story on this car and its former owner. Was the restoration based one of its documented styling exercises? Was there a reason it was put in long term storage? Very cool find...

For some reason I recall that car from somewhere long ago - the headlamp "splitters" especially.
The instrument panel trim piece looks somewhat familiar...
Wish I had a 2" binder from Webster and the SO for my stuff!
By the way John, say "hi" to Werner from me next time you talk with/see him!

Once apon-a-time I read that the original Corvette was to have the clear headlamp covers by they couldn't use them because of some law that wouldn't permit covers over the headlamps , so, they went to the mesh type of cover. Maybe at that time the thinking was the headlamps wouldn't supply enough light because of condensation or ?? on the inside of the cover. Maybe they are original covers left over from the design team ?
