Restoration of Pics
I lost about 160 reference pics when Photopoint went down. I have archives of most of them. Thanks to the Forum for a new place to put them when the need arises!

Thanks. I appreciate your comment. Does take a lot of work to keep these old cars looking decent as most members know!

Paul i hope you didn't lose your heater core repair pictures those were great. I'm sure they helped a lot of people who haven't done that job yet.

Re: Restoration of Pics (Xracer)
I had scanned all my pictures and had them on the hard drive so photopoint didn't hit me as hard. I'd be pissed If I had as many as you did Paul.

Re: Restoration of Pics (gtr1999)
Yes, I was pretty $%%^ed when Photopoint went down. That non A/C heater core replacement album had >5,000 hits. Its not just the photos as you do the repairs, the posting to a web site but the labelling of each pic with useful comments as advice to those who choose to view and hopefully learn. That does take time. And I enjoyed sharing that experience in my driveway. And telling non A/C people there is an easier way. I do have the heater core pics in reserve and I will re-construct an album somewhere. The shame of the whole Photopoint mess is that that album was linked to a number of sites (e.g. Corvette FAQs) and the link is now defunct. As I said in an earlier post, I have been here since summer of 1999 and built up a photo album for many Corvette problems. I am not the mechanical genious but many "what is this" posts I could answer. I annually stockpile pics before winter storage to anticipate questions before access to my secure storage is out of reach. Just venting tonight. Thanks.
PS-Since I can post again thanks to the Forum, here is my window sticker :) .

Re: Restoration of Pics (Smokehouse69)
Steve,
Thank you but no ;) . It has DuPont Chroma Premier paint, I can't remember what brand rad hoses, ring clamps on the hoses, no chalk marks on the frame (I painted with rust paint), distrib is OK at 1103291, Q-Jet is OK at 17059210, transmission is original as is the engine block (untouched). This is not NCRS territory. Just a well maintained 1979. I guess with some patience that one could find the "correct" hose and clamp numbers. You know, when I bought this car 15 years ago i never thought a 1979 would be in NCRS territory. But it does have only 75,000km ( ~47,000 miles) on it so....Could a 1979 become of value? Many doubted so not too many years ago. Time does fly....

Paul79 after reading your post It shows how much a real gentleman you are. You are more ticked off at not being able to help the other forum members than you are about all the hours you put into the photopoint album and lost. You are really a major asset to this web site and I would like to thank you. You are a real kind hearted person:) How's the Cat

Re: Restoration of Pics (groovyjay)
Groovyjay,
Thanks for the kind offer but I have the individual pics stored. I learned many years ago to back up. As I noted earlier I will reconstruct a heater core album with new captions. I did the job twice in my 1979 and I remember the steps well. Only a three-beer job :) .

It does take some time for we who are economically-challenged. I speak for myself. But let me tell you when you get near the end of restorattion a hockey game breaks out: Whooo Hoooo!!!! And the Molson Canadian flows. All is right with the world when a Corvette finally comes together and the crowd cheers!! Not exactly but well at a Cruise night some kid says cool. Sort of makes up for all those hours.....I guess....?? After 15 years you get tired. But I still love the car.

Speaking of Molson Canadian...Did you ever see that great commercial with the guy standing up on stage clarifying what it is being a canadian despite the sterotyping of americans? I just love that one! :D

Re: Restoration of Pics (SuperFast80)
Thanks Superfast! Hope you can find time to visit next summer with the BB and the new Wife :) . Our Club has many events planned including a show and shine for a local charity. We hope to get a lot of cars in from Ontario, Quebec and Northern New York for that one. Here is a pic from Cornwall last September. Nice run south on the back roads free of the 416/401 and OPP. Nice day: brunch and afterward Canadian Tire had a cruise day. The rumble of 16 Corvettes arriving at the same time was....I guess the kids there had it right...AWESOME.
