For some community leaders, it's getting harder and harder. In Pittsburgh, to not offend anyone, the mayor change the name of official celebration of Christmas. Formerly known to residents as the "Christmas Season" It is now called "Sparkle Season"! :U

Every year they remove more and more Christ from Christmas. The "holiday season" begins before Thanksgiving now, pretty soon we'll be able to go in K-Mart after the 4th of July and get decorations. It's all about how much "sales have risen" from last year, or, what stores are not selling as much this year. Talk about "the money changers in the temple"....

carriljc - if you don't have anything to contribute, why not just leave it alone. Besides, don't see any "whine" here, just comments, or is that too much for you?

Reading in off topic yesturday, I learned there was actually a reason. I just wish I remembered what it was. It's nothing to do with christ at all or trying to abbreviate it. Maybe someone knows more about this than i do.

Same here, I got some car parts, the wife got more Indian pottery, and my stepson got some transformer toys that I just took a break from trying to figure out...... All in all a good day!

The "X" in Christmas, is just about as old as the Christian religion. The "X" originally was the Greek letter Chi, it was used in the Kione (Greek trade language that the Gospels were written in) as part of the word Christos, or Christ. Just as the fish is used as a symbol for Christ, because the Greek word for fish "IXOYE" contained the first letters of the phrase Jesus Christ is Lord.
