Harmonic balancer
I was crawling around underneath my car and I noticed the rubber strip coming out of the harmonic balancer. So in the "while I`m in there tradition"
of us C3 owners it`s gonna get a timing chain, and i might as well do the cam too. My question is how common is the rubber coming out of the H/B?,
I`ve never seen that happen before.

My L-82 bigger damper died at a young age. The outer ring had movement. Ever since then I have not had a problem with SFI Fluid dampers.

If your car is going to be a cruiser then you should be happy with a replacement stock balancer, yours lasted 24 years. I plan on drag racing and autocrossing my car so I went with a Fluidampr unit when I found rubber hanging out on my damper.

I think it's pretty common. I have had it happen to me twice. The stock replacement I bought last year has already slipped it's outer ring too. The next new one I buy will be the viscous fluid filled type. At least they aren't that difficult to replace. :smash:
