Default HELP !!! My L98 is sick --- symptoms here !

Hi guys !
I guess this is no terrible problem
but its a problem !
Since last week my L98 its acting strange.-

Sometimes i try to start it and its stuck, starter won't turn.
"Shhck " "Shhck " ...i wait a bit, and it starts but weak..
i think its not an starter problem.-
With this,its acting strange,the other day,i experienced
a lose of power,i pressed the gas pedal and it was like sleeping
like a low voltage,it accelerated but real slow and low rpms....
With all of this ....now the car has a real horrible noise on idle
sounds like a dry v-belt,like a bird singing,only on idle,past 1000 rpm
it goes away, and like it wakes up ! and acts normal again...
but it loses power...the "low voltage car" appears again....
damn im hating this....
I hear with the doctors technique...with a tube ...straight to my ear....
i think it does not come from the heads, incredibly i guess it comes from the intake !!!!! how strange !!!!! or like the injectors !!!!
im really confused on this one !

i think the starting its strange too...please check the video !
thanks

It looks like you are missing the breather vacuum hookup on your valve cover at :36 in the movie. I don't have center bolt valve covers, so I may be mistaken.

will do it ..but strange thing is the power loss....
but yes, could be another pulley getting froze !
when i had the alternator bearing froze...it sounded sooo bad
and it got stuck too !
the only thing that makes me doubt its that i swear the noise comes from the intake

theres nothing in the intake thats rotating but the stethoscope method will pick up all kinds of noises there from anywhere in the engine because the sound will travel.. so pull the belt and check all the bolt on rotating parts. Water pump, ps pump, tensioner and alternator. sounds outside to me your vid got me dizzy

That noise sounds exactly like my bad belt tensioner, may be worth a look. For the power drop, could be a number of things. Does the car being warm or cold have any effect on the symptoms?

Based on your statements:

I'd be suspecting that your alternator is headed south...not sure how old it is?? Also, suspicions about the idler seem pretty valid too... my $0.02

No but it affects your engine running as you are drawing in "unmetered" air to the engine.ECM will see engine as running lean and try to richen it up .Need to hook up the hose from cover to TB port on RHS.

"Shhck " "Shhck " ..., and it starts but weak.."
My vote is the Alt.
What voltage is your dash gauge indicating ?
Bad alt , low power to batt = hard to start.

Could it be possible that your belt is slipping over the alternator pulley?

When I had a pulley go south, it started hoping over the p/s pulley, what a pain to drive!

Couple of more thoughts...since the alternator is new (i.e. recently replaced) - do you have the proper replacement and is it properly fitted? Assuming the alternator checks out fine (still don't know how to explain the "low voltage car", though) then based on what I think I'm hearing in the video, it sounds like your serpintine belt. So, try isolating the noise by removing the belt for a few seconds. Also take a look at the idler...good luck.

Have you checked for codes?

The pressing the peddle, but no go senario you describe can be caused my many things. Injectors, o2 sensor, maf sensor, timing chain, and ignition system all could be possibilities.

I know you've put alot of new parts in this car, and it ran great in that video you made.

Maybe one of the parts you didn't replace is the culprit.

i haven't checked codes but it has the service engine soon lit
it goes away sometimes
Injectors can sound like that ?
02 sensor...i have a new one here,i need to install it
maf sensor its good
timing chain...i replaced it brand new oo
ignition can sound like that ?
its definetely a rotating part...i think its too loud to be injector
but not sure

I was talking about what is causing the lack of power, not the squeak. I'm pretty sure something in the belt system is causing that, like the tensioner.

Go check your codes real quick, its real simple. Here's the link on how to do it:
