Finally got tires/wheels mounted -see pics 16X8 Vintage 45 on 71 LT-1
Finished up getting my wheels and tires mounted yesterday, thought I would post some pics for those of you pondering some Torque Thruster type wheels or a 16" rim...these look really sweet on the C3.......I took the time to remove, clean and paint (POR-15 Metal Mask Gray) my calipers so everything looks nice a clean with the wheels mounted.
I put on Dunlop SP-8000 tires (tirerack.com) 245/50/16 on the front and 255/50/16 on the rears, they fit great, no rubbing on the front at all and plenty of meat on the rear........ the only problem was I had to slightly grind the e-brake bracket to get the passenger rear to fit the way I wanted it.
The rims are from Vintage Wheel Works, 16X8, Model V-45....5/16" spacers worked and looked the best with this wheel.
Merry X-mas to me and the Shark......I just received my new wheels..... and cannot wait till this weekend to get them on the car.....it was 60 degrees here today in Wisconsin....could have had the tops off here!!
Vintage Wheel Works, California Company, 16X8, Model V-45....great quality looking wheel.....looks like a late 60's early 70 American/Torque Thruster D style wheel only in a 16" all aluminum rim. They even threw in a set of nice chrome wheels locks, chrome lug nuts and 2 sets of different size spacers (3/16" & 5/16") for me at my request....free!
I will post some more pics once I decide what kind of rubber to put on them and get them on the car.

Look great. I thought about wheels like that and I chickened out and bought new Ralley wheels. That Lt-1 sure looks good.

Man, those wheels make your car look like a BEAST! They are damn near perfect for that white shark. I am officially jealous.

Just bought the entire set just like yours from my buddy who opted for a set of Torq Thrust II's. I am going to try and make the 255 fit upfront since they are new meats and come with the wheels. Having completed this installation, do you think it would be possible to install these wheels by just grinding down the calipers or is 5/16 not possible. I would like to try to make the installation work without the spacers if at all possible. Chime in with your thoughts about 255 front, and no spacers. They really look sweet on your ride. Great addition. :seeya

The combination of shiny rims and gray (what do you call that finish) spokes looks very very good with the white paint! MJ

They do look great. The white really makes for a great contrast.
What is the difference in weight compared to the stock wheels?
Have you driven it any to see what it feels like ?

Look Great, Have you had a chance to really drive it with the new setup yet, mine handles like a different car since the swap, much better. :yesnod: Yours should even be better then mine since mine is heavier and were running the same tires.
