Latest on LT-1 w/282S cam rebuild 12-23-01
Well I have 200 miles on it so far.
And I have cut the drip tabs down to drip nubs and added thick valve cover gaskets. Re adjusted the rockers again to speck, they were off just a touch in 200 miles, hopefull only due to settling of parts. Set timing to 8 but will be going to 10 or 12 when weather permits more driving time.
Still need to put in a heater core.
Only made a few mistakes during break in but those are behind me. Taht reminds me I have to get the fire extinguisher recharged.

I have not reved over 3500 yet. But the power comes on much sooner and is steady to 3500.
Definitly gained low and mid range power over the LT-1 cam. The LT-1 would not give power till 4000 or so.
Once I put on a few 100 more break in miles I'll be pushing it a lot harder and running it at the track in the spring to get some numbers.
And when autocross season starts I'll be testing there too.
More details coming but I can say I like the cam a lot but surprised it is not as lopey as I thought it would be.

Not over 3500!!!. You are not even getting into the powerband. Wait till you get some rpm into this motor you will be real surprised. I used moly rings on my motor and started "using" it at 100 miles. The guy who machined the motor told me with roller motors they start them set everything and go racing. Had mine at 6000 within 150 miles of startup. Have about 5000 miles of hard running and it is still strong and healthy. You could at least go to 4500 rpm. Keep us posted as to the times and how it runs

I am being too cautious I know. I will be getting a lot uglier as I find less adjustments. I believe I have the rockers set well and if nothing else changes I will be doing an oil change in a week and letting it rev.
I am just so prone to if it can break it will. But the engine builder says he built it bullet proof so I will be testing the rpm range soon.
I hope to turn some good 1/4 mile times, not as good as that red LT-1, but I just have to beat my friends modified 75.
Then to the road course.
