I have to tell them how much $$$
What's a ruff price to offer for something that's been sitting as many as 20 + years? It's a 63 spit rear window coupe.
Sanded body
interior ruff It looks like it was a originally silver with red interior
motor - probably a 350 or late 327 4 b
under hood started to be detail and all there.
It's all there 4 speed factory am/fm radio
by the numbers I figured out that it was a 327/340 4 bar. with stock wheels. It appears to be in a conversion back to stock. Body and frame great the motor starts. None acc double hump heads. Ram horns with true duals . Rear sags with chamber way off. new glass (windows & trim)
wiring so so
I can see $15 to 20K to do it nice with show quality paint etc.
Please answer here or at g_kull@yahoo.com
The reason why I want it is because it's the first type of Vette that I ever drove

What year???? your saying 327 makes me think '68. If it is a numbers match car with the only problems paint, interior and rear end sag, 8-10K might be fair. If it was owned by Bubba it might only be worth half that. Good luck however it goes.

wrong forum :)
But just to underline your response, I have not the slightest clue!!
All I can say is these projects, especially midyear projects, and really especially solid axle projects, always seem to be worth 2 or 3 times as much as I would ever pay!!! In your case I would say $5k tops, while others (who know what they are talking about) will probably say $15 - 20. MJ

No your wrong. This is the correct forum. There are some very knowlegable people on the C-3 forum. Some that own other year Vettes and some that are walking knowledge bases. Or they just might know someone who has a car like that.
I was just wondering about a 63 none matching. because if I could get it for 10K then put a $5k-8k paint job Then........... all of sudden you have $30k in the car. I don't know what they are really worth.

I agree with Ed. I really think we'd need a look to really narrow it down, but I think he gave a good ballpark.

I can't think of a better Vette to pour your money into than the 63 SWC. Knowing you, you'll do it right. That vintage needs an owner that understands. You'll be doing it a favor. LOL
My 2 cents. Buy the Vette for a price that you think you can turn around and easily sell it for. On second thought, just get it.

Think of the rare opportunity to buy a project 63 split : Even a poor man (person) can afford to do a restoration If you got it for 10K:) They don't come around that often.

Exactly paso, 63 swc are rarely AVAILABLE. Some say 10,000.00 max. Ask yourself, how bad do I want it, you won't see too many AVAILABLE.

Re: I have to tell them how much $$$ (gkull)
I offered $9500 for a mostly done project 63 split window coupe. These two girls had an uncle die. So they end up with everything house, shop, boats, 5 cars, and this Vette. That he has had for ever and has been storing or restoring for years. The body looks like some just quit sanding yesterday and never even cleaned up the mess.
Well anyway I found out about it through some kind soul who was going to help the ladies unload everything. Of course he get's some money for his time and effort. Well his face drops when I said $9500. He is under the impression that all old Vette's are gold. He was sure that it was worth at least $50-60K. So I had to explain to him only certian rare models in number 1 condition even get close to that. It appears from the numbers that it was a 340 hp 327 4 speed The factory am-fm radio is a small plus. It's got some kind of a used motor in it without any frills. It starts and sounds Ok. You would need to put all the wheels back on to drive it. It kind of looks like 1/2 way through a frame ON restoration. New bushings and ball joints and steering pieces
I figure about $15-20K for paint, interior, wiring harness, and the car would be a shiny show car. Of course I was thinking my 383 in the 63 and 427 small block in my 79. LOL
He wants to see what other offers he can get. I wish that I was dealing with the girls. Middle men suck.

You need to get in contact with the girls and tell them that they may get a little more for the car, but it could take a year or two to find the right buyer with money! When I looked for a C2, I couldn't find anything drivable under $20,000. . . I was shocked but moved on to a nice C3. :D If you got the money, find the girls and show the money to them. . . that's a rare car and after looking at the ones I did, $9,500 is a steal IMO. Good Luck, I hope to hear you get it!!!

Re: I have to tell them how much $$$ (74-Roadster)
Here is something relevant - Current issue of Corvette Fever (Feb 02). They review corvette prices at recent auctions. I will just quote from the magazine:
(The other comparison was 2 67s)
Point being everyone thinks, "Split window coupe = $65k" but it matters greatly what engine, and NOM is worth much less even fully restored.
MJ
Two interesting comparisons were the sales of a '63 fuel-injected, split-window coupe for $41.5, and one with the 327-300 motor that sold for $27. They were in comparable condition.

Re: I have to tell them how much $$$ (MNJack)
MNjack - Not that I would ever sell it, but it would be very easy to get $30K wrapped into it and have another car like my 79 that you couldn't sell because you have so much money in it.
