Who has not had their roof replaced on '06-'07 Z's?????
I'm trying to get through the summer before going in for the surgery. My car has had the foam fix and has not exhibited any signs yet however it seems that when the roof is going to blow it is going to blow and not necessarily give you any warning signs. I'm not sure if I should be more worried about the roof flying off at the worst possible time or the dealer keeping my car and matching the DSOM paint. My car is an '06 with 10K miles. Let's see who has gone the longest with the original roof.....

Foam done last summer and no probs since then. I don't plan to do any more unless ther's a problem....I HATE taking the car in to the dealer!

Early build '06, 17,000 miles (Silver). The dealer supposedly shot foam in it for the recall about 6 months ago, but I'm not sure they really did anything other than break the visor mounts (the dealer closed up about a month later). The roof has always seemed tight.

Safety Car
My VY Z was built 9/30/05, no problems. I made the decision to carry a roll of duct tape and take my chances. Last July at VIR I actually saw a roof blow off, pretty impressive. At the Bash one of the GM guys told me that sooner or later mine would probably blow, I'd better get it done for liability reasons. Good point; if it blew off on the highway and hit or injured someone, I could be sued as well as GM (because I failed to have it repaired after repeated warnings). Got top replaced last week, paint gloss and match is perfect, no peel. Now duct tape is back in my drawer at home.

roof
my 06 roof blew off when i was on the highway and now it hangs in my garage as a trophy, the dealership ordered me a new panel and had it painted. it was strange when it did blow off, i was playing around with a 03 cobra on a highway and all of a sudden i hear alot of wind noise, i thought my window wasnt all the way up but it was so i got off the highway and pulled into a well lit area got out of the car and wow my whole roof was missing. when i got home i jumped in my work truck and went to go look for my roof, i found it nestled against a concrete barrier on the highway it looks like it flew off and just floated down like a feather there were barely any scratches. now i have a 07 z06 and i dont think the recall pertains to its vin #

06 built in August 05. Foam applied last July. Dealer would not replace the roof panel. I have my doubts that they ever really did what the Recall instructed them to do. So being that my Z only see's hot temps in the June to Oct time frame I doubt it will ever separate and fly off. Only time will tell.

2006 Z06 Victory Red 27 K replacement
I purchased my car from the original owner 8 weeks ago. During my ride home from Charlotte NC to NJ I noticed the wind noise and called the original owner to ask if he had the recall done. He said no, so I knew then that it had to be done. I rode all the way home under 90 to insure the roof stayed on. I called my dealer and made a date to bring it in 2 weeks after I got home. The roof got progressively worse.
I had my headliner blow into the interior one day before I was taking her in. I was lucky it didn't blow off.
Here's so info, make sure they have ALL the parts they need before you bring her in, that means a replacement roof TOO! There are some parts that are NOT RE-USEABLE TOO! So don’t forget to have them read the recall notice and order ALL the parts to include a new roof. Have them paint the roof before you go in, give them a panel or bring it in and have them match to the original roof.
Once they have all the parts and painted roof panel ready bring it in. The notice says 45 mins to cure, leave it over night and take her home in the AM.

I guess we have to be on the lookout for the wind noise, apparantly this is the sign that the roof is going to blow. At least there are many cars that are okay without the replacement but according to many it is just a matter of time. I'm hoping that my foam fix was the answer but it wasn't for so many others.

Leo the Lion, bring her in and get the roof done before you have a issue with it. It is not a big deal as long as you follow the reminders I have in my email on this tread. Go to a dealer that has done more than none or one.
