Do the make an oil filter with a drain plug?
I am tired of getting the full oil filter spilling down my arm every time I change the oil in my '72. Do they make an oil filter that has a drain plug? That straight down oil filter on my 350 is killing (soaking and staining) me. Any ideas.

Just punch a small hole in the bottom of the filter before you unscrew it and let the oil drain out - no big deal....

Sweet... Sometimes the most obvious eludes us. Why didn't I think of that?

If there is one they should ban it cause you someone would buy it and never change the filter again.

Where did you learn to spell and complete sentences? It sounds like the school system in Indiana has a lot of work to do. If you cannot give an intelligent response (which it looks like you struggle with) maybe you should just not respond. :boxing :D

Crack the filter loose and wait 1/2 - 3/4 of a MO. This will let the extra oil out and then you can continue.
Does anyone fill their filter up before installing it?
A minor thing but the engine gets no oil till the filter is filled first.

I always fill mine about 3/4 of the way in my truck but in my wifes car I can only fill it aoubt 1/4 of the way because it goes in sideways. Not sure where I read it but I read once its good for the engine and I've been doing it for the last 12 years.

I use an awl and it's maybe 1/8" in dia. but you can use a screwdriver blade if you want. Whatever, the cannister is not very thick.
Here's an old trick to get off a filter that someone has really tightened. Jam a long screwdriver blade in one side and out the other, then use the screwdriver as a breaker bar to twist off the filter.

.
I do this everytime I change the oil in my truck. The filter holds more than 2 quarts of oil, and with all that weight, it's easy to drop and make a mess
