What are the best tune up parts?
I am on vacation in 2 weeks, and thought to myself... What better time to work on the car. I need a full tune up. I am looking for opinions on the best parts, i.e
Spark Plugs
Wires
Cap and rotor
fuel filter
and anything else you can think of.
Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Spark Plugs I use AC Delco - dont need 100k mile plugs
Wires I use AC Delco - lots of choices work fine
Cap and rotor very disappointed with AC Delco, currently have Summit house brand cap and rotor
fuel filter using purulator generic inline. Switching to AC Delco, but need to build a new fuel line to take the fittings
and anything else you can think of. If you have a Qjet, dont forget the little 99 cent filter in the carb

I like AC or Champion plugs, AC filters. I used NAPA ignition parts this year- points, cond, cap, rotor and didn't like them as much as the Standard Ignition blue point brand I used to sell years ago working as a counterman. I don't know if they're still around but they had pretty good rotors and caps with brass contacts and heavier molded plastic bodies. I bough Blue Max Moroso wires to run with the headers I installed and like them.

I would say you might be better off with some books and tools. An AIM, a correct year Chevy Chassis Service Manual, a nice timing gun, a vacuum guage...it would also be nice to have an air/fuel ratio device (maybe you do?). There are lots of good parts out there, but good tools are a big help in tuning also, IMO.
