Jacking up a Corvette--special place and procedure?
Bought a '80 Vette not to long ago. Plan to change out the break pads. I was told by the seller that, if I jack it up, I should leave both doors open and take off the T-Tops. Sound about right?
Also, where do yall typically put the jack? Any special place? Don't want to hurt my new-found beauty....
Thanks alot.

Take t-tops out and put windows down. I didn't open my doors and didn't have any problems.
jack the rear on the frame right in front of the rear tires and put jack stands there. I jack the front under the "gills", where the frame curves from the front of the car to the outside by the door. put jackstands there too. Don't use the differential to jack it up, you'll crack it.
hope this helps :seeya

I was told the same thing. When I had work done on my car by a hot rod specialist with corvette experience, he told me the same thing. I think this may be more important from 68-77. The fin off the rear window develops stress cracks. According to others I have spoke to a well, these techniques allow the frame to absorb more flex than the body. I do not know if any of that is true.
As far as locations, check you manual. Mine shows three spots for lifting the car, on each side.
