Damn damn damn!
I had a trade show to do this weekend out on in Seaside. Well "had to" isn't really right as the wife and I always have a nice trip (we do the show every year). Of course, we took my Z06.
We have a favorite motel at which we always stay which is just blocks from the beach. This year we were really looking forward to staying there as they recently remodeled. (The Convention Center Inn)
To make a long story a bit shorter, they even remodeled their parking lot and added some new REALLY high curbs around their marquee sign. But how they had the parking stalls marked was really stupid and as a result, I ended up dragging the passenger side rocker panel and lower door across the curb (know that queasy feeling as you hear the fiberglass being rasped apart?). Damn damn damn and double damn! I NEVER saw the curb until after the fact. Of course, my Z is lowered too......
I told the girl working the desk that because of their ****-poor design, I had just done a grand of damage to my car (good guess as it turned out). All she could say was "I'm so sorry". I'm going to escalate this a bit (if you read the saga of my battle against GM, you know I don't give up easily!)
The Z went in the body shop this morning - $1200 damage!
Then again, I'll have it back by this weekend.

I thought it might be worth a shot to contact the Convention Center Inn's owners and try to convince them their parking lot design was a major factor in the damage. Hey, never hurts to try, right?
And I decided not to do an insurance claim as it would not be covered under comprehensive coverage but rather collision. This means there's a deductible involved and a rate hit for the next 3 years.

Melting Slicks
Ouch, man that sucks. Sorry to hear about the hard luck!
I know where exactly where you're coming from though. When my wife wants to go out to eat, I literally have to stop and think about the places I can physically get to without causing damage to the car when she wants to take it. Takes all the fun out of it sometimes, and for such a simple thing like a curb...
It's ridiculous the amount of places in this area that simply cannot make a gradual incline. Some of them I even have to be careful in my 06 Impala daily driver. What a joke...
