Default Horsepower on new Rebuild Estimate

HI Guy's,I just picked up my car today and was wondering on the horsepower. It has the following,Dynomax Ceramic coated headers,2.5 inch exhaust no restriction's going into walker ultra flow ss mufflers,Sportsman 2 heads, 64cc, Edelbrock performer manifold,TRW hypereutectic 9.5 pistons, comp magnum cam 270H.750 Holley carb, magnum tip roller rockers,Its an L48 bored 60 over.Just looking for an ballpark figure.Engine builder estimates around 375 HP.Pretty much same rebuild as 69er just a few different mods for me as we both used the same shop. Thanks for your time ,Frank>STW< :flag

I would say your engine builder is in the right ballpark. I'm sure you'll be very impressed with the power whenever you drop the engine in. Seems like you have a very well planned setup. What stall did you go with, or are you sticking with the stock converter?

HI Bence13_33. Other then the new centerforce clutch ,and the Hurst shifter everything else remained stock. The engine is in the car.It looks like you have yourself a nice project in the works.I am not sure of the valve work as he buy's the heads bare and does them himself.I belive this cam is the biggest you can go with the stock converter.Dont quote me on that.Frank :flag

I'm sorry, I assumed that you had an automatic....you know what they say about whenever you assume :). The cam and heads will be the heart of your engine....as long as the heads are going to flow decent you will be in good shape. Do you know what size valves you have?

Yea, I'm actually nearing the halfway point of the big block project. I have nearly everything I need to start building the engine. I'm hoping to start building it after Christmas....that way I can drop it in and get it ready for spring time :yesnod:

NJ74,you don't have to answer this if you don't want to but how much money did that set you back. I would really love to know how much something like that cost's labor, parts and all. Just trying to do a little research for the future, thanks.

HI ,I had more then just an engine rebuild done to the car while it was there.I had a new radiator put in ,clutch fan,fan clutch, and a center force clutch put in also along with numerous other things that total to about 22 items.Bence I do not know what size the valves are.He assembly's the heads himself and did not list what he used he told me but I can't remember sorry. Due to certain circumstances the price can not be stated.LOL(wife)

Hi Frank. If you've got 375 now, just think how it would run with nitrous! 500!
