Default What the hell was up with saving spots this year???

This year saw a new trend at the cruise in, saving blocks of parking spots at the hotel. I pulled in Friday afternoon and there were maybe 30 cars in the lot and every other spot had a chair in it or was taped off.

I parked in the front of the Hampton to unload my car and someone from the Chicago group walked over and told me I needed to move. Like he owned the parking lot. I told him to pound sand and he told me he hoped no one messed with the car.

This jackass actually said that to me. I told him I would hold him responsible if anyone did.

To be fair, it wasn't just the Chicago guys. Thursday Friday and Saturday I saw cones, chairs and more tape in every spot. People were having to park in the Bob Evans parking lot and worry about their car getting towed because of this crap. The guys from Texas at least had the decency to take spaces that were not part of the hotel.

This obnoxous bullsh*t ends with this cruise in. You rented a room. This doesn't give your group the right to squat on half of the hotel's parking lot.

I agree with you 100%

Can't believe someone basically threatend your car like that!

There is always someone that thinks they own the world though....

Phil, I know how you feel.
I was at the Red Roof and walked over only to find a few empty spots, so there wasn't a need to save spots.
Where I come from, "move your feet, lose your seat" is the motto.

I understand that some of my peeps were involved with a few words with you. I'm just glad nothing happened.

Next year, I'm bringing my Power Wagon and I'll just park wherever I feel like no matter who or what is parked there.

I agree that is NOT right.

I can see Roscoe doing it as he was loading and unloading things, but the Chicago Crew had their yellow tape and monogramed chairs blocking the spots. I hope next year they will not do that.

I stayed at the Baymont...only a few people there did that....I came back and said.."Wow, look at this, FREE chairs."..I have 5 extras now if anyone wants some..

On an aside note...The night Mgr. at the Baymont was 'furious' Saturday night that cars from the Hampton were coming into the Baymonts lot to do burnouts. He said there will be cameras up next year to show the Cops whoever does it...I think it was the hour they occurred and the following phoned in complaints that generated that comment...

saw it last year as well....total

if you come with your group you should be all together anyway...if you leave don't expect to get your spot back...

as far as threatening your car

as he should be..thats why we were not allowed back before and why the prices went up ALOT. It is destruction of property and lack of respect. Yeah its cool but like Savewave and Adam /Roscoe said upfront...do your burnouts at the track

I would put a chair to save my spot, but it would have looked like a buffet table since it took 10 or 12 spaces to get my truck and trailer in....

I heard that as well. I know some people were trying to get me to do a burnout. I went up to them after I parked and told them I did not think it was the smart thing to do with all the people and cars around. I think Craig told me something about the no burnouts being part of the agreement with the host hotels.

This is my 3rd CI as a member of the chicago crew..the first two years we saw all the other groups doing it ( i wont name names) so I guess we figured no harm no foul since other groups did it. This is the first I have ever heard of someone getting upset about it. Didn't know a parking space meant so much as to cause this many problems

From what I recall, there was plenty of parking on the other side of the hotel and round back as well so its not like the lot was full... oh well

I am sure it wont happen next year now that we know it is an issue.

Sorry
