Santa sent me Desktop Dyno 2000
Is there a convenient place on the web that specs cam timing events? This DTD2000 is going to be fun. Any tips from you experienced users?
THANK YOU SANTA!!! Hope you find a real comfortable racing seat for your sleigh :)

Re: Santa sent me Desktop Dyno 2000 (nunus79)
It is weak in the area of intakes. For example a RPM Air Gap should push the HP/ TQ curve up very close to the single plane curve. Also if you raise the lift (go to 1.6 rockers from 1.5) this would in effect raise the entire flow for the heads. this is not accurately represented in Dyno2000. Turbos are another area of weakness. If you realize some of these issues and take them into account it turns out to be a very usefule tool. to overcome some of these shortcomings you can manually enter your best guess and it comes much closer.

Hey Nunus, You have mail. I emailed you a few dyno files that may come in handy. Let me know if you don't get them.

Re: desktop dyno
I have just completed a 383 mild buildup ready to install. I was wondering if anyone out there has a desktop dyno and is willing to plug in my info to see what the combo might produce. My goal is a reponsive torquey engine, not a high revving screamer.
Combo: 350 block, 400 crank, .040 oversize equals 385 cu. in.
comp cams hi energy 268 cam, duration @ .050 218, both int. and exh., lobe sep angle -110 degrees, valve lift .454
chev cast heads, 2.02 intake , 1.60 exh. valves, 9.2 compression ratio, roller rockers, balanced assembly, edelbrock performer intake, 750 performer carb,
Pertronics HEI ign, dyno max headers 1 3/4" primaries, 28"long, 3" collectors, Dr. gas X pipe, 2 1/2 pipes to turbo mufflers
Any help appreciated, Bob Myers NC

All Crane cams have the event numbers. I haven't dug into the others.
This Crane site is page has something like my cam. I just have a custom grind with .635/644 lift using 1.65/1.6 rockers. then you actually need to ad 1 degree to the .050 numbers on each listed over the 1.5 cam card numbers.
Look a the s240 solid roller specs. then juggle the numbers to get 112 LSA.

The numbers off the top of my head are like
12 50
58 10

Re: Santa sent me Desktop Dyno 2000 (1970 Stingray)
Since we are on the subject again, I have a file that I downloaded from motion software a while back. This file is no longer available, but I've got it and you can too. It contains DTD2000 airflow files for the following heads:
AFR 190
AFR 210
EDELBROCK PERFORMER
GM FASTBURN
GM L98
GM LS1
GM VORTEC
HOLLEY SYTEMAX 300-569
TRICK FLOW TWISTED WEDGE G2
TRICK FLOW 23 DEGREE
WORLD S/R 305
WORLD SPORTSMAN
I also have one made up for S/R torquer and GM 462 fuelies from data that I have accumulated.
If anyone is interested, send me an email tom71@flash.net and I will attach the files on the reply.

Here's the best Desktop Dyno reference page that I've found so far.
http://www.aros.net/~rbuck/dyno2000/Welcome.html
He's got tons of heads and cams and he even put them all in a zip file so you can download everything he's got all at once.
Good luck.

Right now Summit racing is selling DTD for $39.95 Then you could also make your dream motor. I only looked at the programfor a couple of days. I noticed that the program wrongly rewards cam profiles with massive split durations. Monty also saw this. Take a normal cam and plug in an extra 10 degrees @.050 to the exhaust closing event.
Other than that they claim within 5 % if you plug in real CFM flow and cam timing.
