Any old timers remember blue dots?
I was just THINKING about getting the bubble lens tailight and adding blue dots.
Cheezy move?
Should I wait for a '32 deuce coupe instead?

Hey, what ever floats your boat. Personally I think they would look better on a duece coupe, or a T-bucket.

I wouldnt do it. I like 'em, but I put a set on my harley: just a 1/2 dot in the tailite. NC Trooper pulled me, and said NOT DOT approved, no ticket, but couldve got them. I removed them, as I dont want to be pulled for something like that if I just gargled with Listorene.....
NC DMV, and DOT regs state: No color light shall be used in the rear of any vehicle licensed for the road, except for amber and red. The only exception is white light for license plates and reverse lights. Hidden strobes may be used for LEO.

Had 'em on my '67 Chev p/u and others over the years. I like them. Cops don't seem to bug ya too much about them anymore due to all the super brite headlights and such. Don't know if I'd put them on a vette though, they're more for 32 duece coupes and the such. They do show up nice at night though and they are a good safety feature IMO.

I think I read a few months ago that they are now legal in Pennsylvania. I have a pair of (glass) ones, but they're going on the "Pink/Linc" in the Spring. If I'm wrong and get stopped, I do have an extra set of tail light lenses.

Who are you calling an old timer??? Ah, well. I installed a set on our blue '73, but I also carry the originals and a screw driver with me. You never know what sort of a mood the authorities might be in. Hopefully, I can just plead unawareness of the law (true) and would you let me change them here? If a ticket is still issued, what to say but I played a game and lost.

Yea buuuuutttt your messing with history. You might get the urge to put monkey nuts around the windsheild, or lights under the dash. I don't think I would mess with it :) :)

as an "ole timer" I had em on my 50 Ford coupe in H.S. , got stopped and had to take em off
don't think I'd put them on my vette. exaust is loud enough it attracts more attention than I need.

Oh! You mean tail lights. Heck, I thought the thread was about the Blue Dot's that Goodyear made back in the 60's. Original equipment tires on Cobras and CHP cars :).

Well, I'm really not that old, but I do have one on my Harley taillight. It's been on over 10 years and no hassles yet.

Still got a set of '49 Ford tail light lens with the blue dots stored in my attic someplace. Haven't had that car since 1963 and I still hang on to the lenses, go figure....

I remember them well. They decreased the visibilty of the taillights so much that I almost rear-ended a few of them in the fifties!
