Has anyone had experience with Eckler's spray on gelcoat?
I'm wondering if, after I strip all of the paint and complete my body repairs (mostly fixing stress cracks), if spraying the body with Eckler's spray on gelcoat is worthwhile for keeping those little errant strands of fiberglass that get freed up while sanding from popping through my new paint job. The Eckler's book on fiberglass recommends it (of course), but I've heard that the new epoxy/urethane primer/surfacers are adequate for keeping those pesky little glass fibers from popping through the new paint. I'm planning to use PPG products if that makes any difference.

IMHO, Unnecessary 40 year old technology.
We do lots of Glass repair on the race cars (too often) and shoot it with DP, then paint.
Hope this helps. :chevy

JerryM is right. Use PPG DP50 LF. Works like a charm. Also you might check out the Corvette Painting Basics by Lars @ http://www.corvettefaq.com

After striping the 64, I could see that the factory had buried them in primer.
I buried them with PPG K36 (used for filling) worked good for me.

yooperrod, your right also. You use the DP50 to seal and K36 as a surfacer. Spray the K36 after about 2hours after spraying the DP50. The k36 is great. Hope to have pic's of new paint job this week-end.

I would tint the K36. to a color close to the cars.
The 64 has some stone chips and the lighter color really sticks out on a red car. live and learn. Talk to your PPG Guy , He'll fix you up.
