Interesting Trivia on Hertz rental C6
While at the plant last Wednesday I noticed a yellow C6 on the line and while staring at it realized that there was something on the center arm rest. At the end of the line we found a completed car and realized that the Hertz cars have the letters ZHZ embrodied on the center armrest. Didn't see any other special decals/logos. Not sure what the letters stand for, anyone else know?

That explains some photos posted yesterday with ZHZ logos on the fenders!

Sounds like they're trying to create the same sort of excitement as they did with the black and gold Shelby GT350H models of `66 and 2006 . . .fun car to rent but at a real premium.
If they do it right and the cars don't get beaten to death, they'll have a nice "limited edition" for the resale market.
Surprised not to hear more about them in the industry trades . . . not like Hertz to keep something like this quiet!

Wow, custom badges, installed vent grills, console emblem, I wonder what else these cars have straight out of the box, someone knows how to order from Hertz. Why do I have the feeling a few of these are destined to see some serious air time, and unfortunately will end up wrapped around utility poles and freeway guardrails Salt

Last year Hertz only had convertibles. Many of you might have seen my post last September, when I rented one. It was an '08 and it was very worn out inside - a car with perhaps 3 months.

I remember when my Grandfather went to buy one of the Black/Gold Hertz Mustangs with the built engines (GT350H or sometthing, I forget the exact name) when Hertz was dumping them after rental use. He walked.
There was a whole fleet of them at the auction, I seem to remember it being in Fontana. Every single car was trash. I don't mean edgy, I mean trashed. They go for cheap as a used car because nobody wants to shell out the money to hold them for 40 years as a novelty item.
And it just makes one more thing to check out on a used C6. The rentals are sold at the auction and declared as prior rentals at the auction, but that doesn't necessarily mean that your friendly car dealer who picks it up for cheap and gives it a cosmetic go over is going to tell you the truth about the history.
If would be nice if they made all the rentals the same color so that it would be an immediate heads up. Buyer beware.

Premium sports cars have always been available for rental in certain markets, typically from specialist car rental companies. I can rent locally a Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari or Vette. And that is a good thing. I rent cars I am prospecting to buy - that's the only way to check them out. And I do not trash them or abuse them. Do I take them to my limits (notice I do not say car limits)? Yes, of course, that's the whole purpose of checking them out.

The fact that the Hertz rentals are special "ZHZ" cars, is perfect! The only way the rentals can hurt the resale market by flooding them is if they can't be distinguished from the rest of the market.

That is solely renter-dependent. There are idiots everywhere.
