I just installed a GMCRV2 last nite. I ran into the same issue you have. It was kind of a pain to move the pin without having the locking fingers to open.

I got mine today. Looks the same as "NEXTIME's". It was not hard for me to move the pin out. I tried both ways, but no base from woofers, just sound. Did I do anything wrong? Help!!!

sounds liek factory amps arent turning on. did you hook the blue turn on wire from your headunit to the ampturn on/power antenna wire on the harness (it will be blue on the harness)

if your radio has both a blue and a blue with white make sure to use the one identified as amp turn on (not power antenna)

You have to turn up the subwoofer volume on your radio, it reads the signal from that.

It's working now. Thanks! That's right. I didn't hook the blue turn on wire from your headunit.

this is incorrect, first off the amps must be turning on via the remote wire. 2nd of all the soundgate adapter doesnt interface with the preouts of the radio at all, it all runs off high level outputs meaning if your radio has a sub adjust its not doing anything

I e-mailed Soundgate about the disparity between their instruction and the actual product and received this reply (edited):

"The instruction manual was not updated when we went from the GMCRV1 to the
GMCRV2 so some of the information is incorrect and I apologize for that.
On your current piece the gain control was changed to the flat head
screw. I have attached a picture of the harness that you should have
received. If you are having trouble with no audio coming from your
factory subwoofer then you can pull firmly, straight back the solid
black wire that is marked chassis ground. If you are looking at the
picture, it is the first wire from the bottom of the picture. You will
then place the wire w/pin into the very first or top slot on the
connector. If your connector looks different then the attached picture
please let me know. If possible, take a picture of your connector and
email it to me."

Here is the picture referred to which matches what was shipped so all is good:
