correct order to lash valves (asap)
this is an easy question, but i don't have any of my books with me today
i can't quite remember the sequence, but there is a method that requires minimal # of turns of the crank.
do i start at TCD with #1 exhaust, then rotate 90deg? something like that...
thanks

Re: correct order to lash valves (Turbo-Jet)
Turbo-Jet, start at TDC #1 right after the intake closes, timing mark lined up on zero. There you can adjust #1 and #6. Turn crank 90 degrees clockwise, and then adjust #8 and #5. Turn another 90 degrees, adjust #4 and #7. Another 90 degrees and adjust #3 and #2. Hershey :chevy

Re: correct order to lash valves (Hershey)
I'll disagree slightly. At TDC you get Exhaust 4,8 Intake 2,7. Rotate 180 1/2 turn. Exhaust 3,6 Intake 1,8. Another `1/2 turn Exhaust 5,7 Intake 3,4 Another 1/2 turn Exhaust 1,2 Intake 5,6. This is taken right from the GM manual. I have always done it this way annd never had any trouble, I do have solid lifters.
