I will remove the Hood and the Rad and play it safe.

I think it's a smart move. It's nearly if not totally impossible to remove just the shroud on a BB car. Remove everything as a unit. Take off your hood. Think of the radiator as the "meat in the sandwich" between the core support and the shroud. Take all 3 out as a unit. When you have them out, it's a good time to replace the seals around the rad/shroud and rad/core. Check the catalogs. Many sell seal kits. Dr. Rebuild has the best in my opinion. The lack of seals might be contributing to your overheating problem, as I see you're installing aftermarket fans. Chuck
