LT-1 Rebuiled: Slight error in assembly
Well I went in and adjusted the valves today, Officially 7 miles on the rebuild.
Most all of the rockers were out of adjustment. One in particular was way out.
I must not have tightened the Kool Nut down well and the rocker was just a bit, major under statement, loose. It came up enough to bust of one of the drip tabs in the valve cover.
I re adjusted everything and double checked all the locks on the nuts and put on the extra thick valve cover gaskets I bought and should have used in the first place.
All is well and the tab was just laying on the top of the head.
The engine is running well and I am putting on all the miles I get the chance to.
I think I will drive to Indianapolis this weekend adn do some tuning with a few Vette buddies.

I milled down my drippers to half the normal height, No problems any more. Mine were hitting slightly with a .525 lift cam. I also have the cool nuts. Make sure they are tight.

I had a set of Kool nuts & stamped rockers on my stock heads. They hit the dripers on the LT-1 valve covers. After I installed my Dart heads, they clear - in fact, I installed a set of Crane aluminum full roller rockers with the poly locks any they clear too.

This is just a heads up- may not be applicable.
The top of the rocker studs need to be machined flat to use allen screw rocker nuts. Otherwise, they tend to come loose. Not always, but sometimes.
