E-bay...actually have a good Corvette for sale?
Hmmm...don't know what they're asking, but I asked a few questions about it. We'll see what the answers are...but it looks like it might be a good buy for someone. (Looks can be deceiving though).

Looks nice but probably not even close to the reserve. The wheels and steering wheel look to be off a mid 80's vette.

I have the same wheels and steering wheel (except my horn button is aluminum colored) on my '77. The car looks very nice.

Here's some info...the owner is not a Vette person (does not know too much, didn't know that it had a factory alarm, etc) but seems very nice and forthcoming with what they do/don't know.
"The vin number is in the ad, it is 194379S720679, the number on the right front block is T09I4IR [sic] also 18S400804." (The VIN had a typo in the ad, so I was just checking on it, the I in the date should be a 1, but assuming hard to read, and the auto/manual is a typo in the ad as well.)
The engine is coded correct for a 1968 427/435 MT car ("IR").
Well, for numbers matching, it's no good, but for a car that moves, it could be a good driver/gas guzzler...not that I'm too concerned about emissions or gas mileage anyway. If I had the money, and the price was good, I'd buy it. :smash:

I think there's a Toronto Ohio, just across the PA border.

This is just my opinion but I think ebay was made for selling Corvettes. Corvettes always look good in pictures even when the body and paint is less than desirable ( trying to be diplomatic here ).
There is absolutly no chance I would ever buy a car off the internet without first going and seeing the car fisthand, even then your taking a chance. There are a couple of guys who have bought cars from eBay and I think they feel like kicking themselves. There is no free lunch, no tooth fairy and you will get ripped off on the net.

So what would you do? Bid on it and if you won, go look at the car and then
buy it if it was a good deal? If the seller was misleading, backout of the deal?
There are some tip-offs to a possible rip off....check seller's feedback. I would be careful with someone with no feedback or poor feedback....I have bought a few things off ebay and have had good luck but a car is a different story. If the car is misrepresented, you are still out time, airfare, etc.......

I agree Bob. E-bay is a good place to get exposure on the net. However, I'd only consider buying if the vehicle was close to home(2-3hr drive) so I could drive up and check it out.
Toronto Ohio is relatively close but now we're in the "busy" holiday season, I know I wouldn't have the time to check it out. Plus, it'll probably sel for $18+ which I don't have and divorce proceedings would certainly start if I mentioned that I was going to "check out" a BB!  I can hear it now. "You're going to look at another Vette? And when are you going to fix the leak in the laundry room?" "And when are you going to fix the brakes on the Explorer?"
