Default New or rebuilt speedo mechanism source???

Does anyone have a source that can supply a new or rebuilt speedo mechanism? I've tried numerous sources including Clocks by Roger, Zip, & Dr. Rebuild & they all say the rebuild kits have been discontinued. They can all sell me an entire unit for $200+ but thats not an option I want to exercise.

Used are available but who's to tell its any better than the one that I've got. And even if it was, it could fail anytime. I'd hate to put the dash back together with a broken speedo in it.

I got one from Orange Coast Corvette within the past year. Dont know thier #, but they are on Orangethorpe in either Fullerton or Anahiem. Talk to Rod, he's a good guy and very helpful.

I just got one tonight from http://www.contemporarycorvette.com/
I ordered it Friday, so it came pretty quick. It's a used unit, but they guarantee the odometer will work. Haven't installed it yet, but it's nice to see a trip that actually resets. $75.00

Try John at Redline (1-800-375-2310) Rebuilt speedo, including the 140mph for us crossfire guys who want to know how fast we are going past 85 for $56.50 + exchange. Has the optical sensor or not depending on what you need. You will need a $250.00 deposit if you don't send your old one in first.

Guys after some further checking, it looks like ALL rebuild kits have been discontinued. I've checked with all the parts houses I know of and none have one.

An option is that Ecklers rebuilds them for $95. Problem is it takes 4-6 weeks.

I appreciate all the options presented here and will followup on them. I'm leaning toward a used from Contemporary because I want to get my car back on the road ASAP. I put so few miles on my car maybe I'll get lucky and it won't fail for a loooonnnnggggg time.
