new tires? which ones for stock?
What are the stock tires for C3 rims? I like the best but try to keep it under $400 if possible. I have no idea what they run.

I'm currently running 255 60R15 tires, no rubbing at all, stock size on the late c3s I believe. They are *Viper TRs* :U I'm looking at getting a more performance oriented tire, possibly Pirelli Scorpion Zero's. They are the only V rated tire that I can find in that size.

I'm not suggesting Jeg's but look at http://www.jegs.com
& search for tires. They have Size: P245/60R15 Part # 131-60013 for $ 64.99. It's a nice size and quality if your not looking for a speed rated tire. I have Goodyear 255/60/15 rear and 245/60/15 front now and am going to change to the BFG's next summer. I put the 255's on the front and I don't like the clearance (Just me). I haven't looked too seriously yet, but if they make the Comp TA's in the 245's I would go that route.

Johnny,
The stock tires for a 1977 is 225/70/15. I own a '77 also. I want to go to another size, because mine are very poor, especially in the rain. I would like to go to a 255/60/15, but I hear that some of those sizes rub on the fender of a '77. Probably the best size would be 245/60/15. But that size is EXTREMELY hard to find in MOST tires.
I hear the Firestone SS20 is a great tire, but I don't think they carry the 245/60/15.
Hope this helps

You can click the TIRES icon that should be on the right side of your screen, or go to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/SearchTires.jsp? and check out the possibilities there.
I have 245/60-15 Uniroyals on my car now with no fit problem. There's probably a good chance that I'll need to replace them in a few months (inspection) and I'm thinking of the BF Goodrich (same size). They run about $65 each (probably under 75 each with mounting & tax).
I've been hearing good stuff about Yokohama and Nitto too.
You've inspired me to start another poll (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...d=newpoll&id=3) about speed rating used on C3s.
Good Luck. Please let us know what you decide to go with.

I'm running 245/60/15's from Hercules. Not bad looking,no rubbing-$300/set. I was given an unsolicited opinion that this size doesn't fill the wheel wells too well. I like the wider profile but they could stand to be taller.

I replaced my tires last year with BFG 225/70/R15. This size is the nearest
to original. Very pleased with these tires. Good handling and low road noise (not that you could hear tire noise anyway  )
Didn't want to go too wide because I was concerned with 'road wandering'... where the tires grip every nook and hill and causes you to
keep a strong arm on the steering wheel. Got all 4 mounted and balanced
for under $400.
