It's because of that big block you've got in that car . :jester
Seriously, Mark when did this start happening? Sat. after we split on the highway?

Mark,
Do you have power brakes? You might want to check your brake booster if your carb. check out - OK. If you have a bad booster the change in vac. maybe part of your stalling out problem.

Yep, too much gas. Your floats are set too high and flooding when fuel level tilts. I bet it does the same thing when you make a U-turn.

I have the same thing on my holly 750. Only happens during very hard braking. The fuel in the float bowls is pulled away from the jets by the g-force. They sell jet extenders that can solve this problem.

I had this happen to me 2 years ago.
Out of the box, my brand-new Holly 750 Double pumper had the same problem with engine stall when applying the brakes.
I figure it to be caused by the high fuel level in the secondary bowl, due to the fact that when I lowered the fuel level, the problem disappeared.
Though the issue of whether it is fuel pulling away from the primary jets causing you to lean out, or SOMEHOW fuel 'spilling' from the seconday side causing a rich condition, I don't know. The lean primary jets makes more sense, compared to fuel traveling past the flute, throught the vent casting, and up the chrome tube richening the mixture... Then why did I cure it by lowering the float level on the secondaries??
I guess that one of you here might have a real answer to why this works, and whether the car leans out, floods, or if the drop in vacuum changes affects the idle when braking (then why don't it happen in park?).

put a bowl vent baffle(holley part #26-40) in the secondary float bowl as hard braking could cause fuel to come out the secondary bowl vent and flood the engine. since they are sold in pairs put one in the primary also.
