FREE restoration package info from GM
This is more for the newbies in the group (like me) that are still putting together info on their car. GM offers a FREE restoration package for your car. Spec sheets, available options, stats, part codes, etc… I got it last year and just ran across the number again so I thought I would pass it on.
Call 1-800 222-1020 and have your VIN mumber and ask for the free restoration package …. Enjoy
/Joe

Got Mine Too!!
Hey Joe,
Got mine in the mail yesterday. I believe there was a thread with the info on the NCRS site. I got it in less than a week. Looks like some good info from what I've looked at so far. Good advice Joe!
Take care,
Shooter

Not Available for Canadians...
Hey Gang!
I called the number, and got a very helpful lady on the phone who was all ready to take down my info and send me off a package, until I told her I was in Canada. Seems they can't send the package outside of the US. So, she gave me the number for their counterpart in Canada (1-800-263-3777), who looked into it and told me that it wasn't free, and it wasn't available from them. And, that I'd need to talk to their Vintage Services Dept (1-888-464-6853), who told me that they didn't have a Restoration Package, and only had information available for cars that were originally sold in Canada. Which, mine wasn't (came into Canada from Michigan in '90).
So, are they mis-informed, or is this service not available for us Canucks? Don't know.
Is this package VIN specific? Perhaps I could get it shipped to a PO box just across the border or something...

It is not VIN specific..it is for a given year. You are welcome to a copy of what I got but my info is for a '66. PM me if you are interested.
What's the big deal.. what I got was bad photo copies of other documents - not an original in the bunch. Still helpful but not worth paying for it. I guess they don't want to pay the postage

I just called. They where very helpful. They did ask for my VIN number. They ran some kind of check on the VIN. Had me on hold for about 5 minutes. Came back and said everything was fine, and I should have the package in 3 to 4 weeks.

Did it several weeks ago; package showed up about three days after my phone call. Amazed to see that it came from a location in Maine and was sent by USPS Overnight Mail.

I got a very pleasant Lady who insisted I needed 13 digits . She found the correct spot in her computer and I was all set. I thought this was a great service by the Bow-tie factory.

I got mine with in a week. They sent me the wrong one the first time (even though I had given them the VIN) but the second time, it was correct. Both times, within a week of the call.
It is very helpful, I have the service manual (for a 65, it has the 63, the 65 supplement, and the 396 supplement) which is almost worthless (my 2003 AE service manual is 3 volumes, and takes up about 9 inches of shelf space!), but the resto manual is much better.
