How to disable power steering
Not that this would be the most recommended method, but empirical
evidence shows that this is an effective method.
First, loosen the ram connecting rod bold on the frame bracket. Now if
you want immediate results (as opposed to eventually occurring) you could
just remove the nut, washers and bushings, but if you're not a purist...
Second, drive the car around until the nut, washer and bushings all drop
off.
Now, you have a car that steers without the assistance of power steering
assist.
Hopefully you didn't want to get power steering reenabled on your car,
because you would have to go and get replacements for the parts that
you removed, ah er lost...
Now, I know that you will all be asking for more data to support this
process, but be assured I don't want to provide more. You will just have
to experience it yourself.
Now where's the catalogs... :mad

Re: How to disable power steering (adam)
Once the ram was loose from the frame, you could also point the ram down toward the ground, turn the steering wheel to the left and the ram will extend and there should almost be enough hydraulic force to lift the front end. Why not put a small wheel on the end of the rod. Then you could have a really cool hip-hop vette.

Re: How to disable power steering (Jim Shea)
Oooooh! Now that would be a strange vette indeed!
I've decided that I'd rather have the power steering assist again.
Anti-swap bar link bushings seem to fit for the time being.
Looking at the catalogs, there seems to be two systems. One (original, shown in the AIM)
has a slotted nut with a cotter pin holding it in place. The other, aftermarket, only has
a plain nut. Guess which one I remember having? Guess which one I'm going to get?!
