You don't need an article. You need an engine stand & hoist. Get BB Corvette valve covers & new engine mounts. Build & install. Corvette BB acc. setup & rad. rec..

I have the stand and hoist. :D I just want as much info as possible.

I am buying a house (*possibly today*) so the 274XE will have to wait a month or so.....;)

The engine is all torn down and the block and heads are waiting for a field trip to the machinist's. Just have to wait a little bit more.....

Sounds like you are on your way to owning a big block 'Vette. What kind of power are you looking at getting out of the big block (454 I take it)? Are you doing anything special to the engine?

Its a 1972 spec LS-5 that I am rebuilding with a 0.030 overbore, TRW 2399F pistons (.095" dome) and a 274XE. I am trying to figure out which intake will fit under a stock '80 hood.

I also have a Holley 700, headers and straight pipes.:D

I'm going with the Torker II aluminum intake in hopes of fitting everything under my stock hood until I have enough money to get a "Stinger" or L88 style hood. Have you checked to see if this intake will fit under your hood? I would go with a bigger carburetor, with the 454 you've got a lot of cubic inches to feed. I was originally going to go with a 750 but after reading the "how to hotrod big block chevys" book, I'm going with an 850.

Those are the same pistons that I'll be going with and I'm going to bore mine over .060". When are you hoping to have then engine in by? :cheers:
